Story

This October we’ll be remembering all the tiny lives lost to miscarriage, ectopic and molar pregnancy through our new Memory Walk fundraising event.

Taking place on Sunday 15th October – the culmination of Baby Loss Awareness Week – we’re encouraging people to walk 4 miles at 4pm, reflecting the 1 in 4 pregnancies that is estimated to end in miscarriage, while raising funds to help people through the heartbreak of pregnancy loss.

We are hoping that supporters all over the UK will join us and hundreds of other people as they set off on their own local memory walks to remember those little lives lost, raise awareness of the issues surrounding baby loss, and to signpost people to our services. They might also want to light a candle after the walk to join in with the national Wave of Light at 7pm that evening.

Organising your own memory walk event is simple. So long as you set off at 4pm on Sunday 15th October, and plan a route covering 4 miles, you can choose where you want to walk, and either walk alone, or invite friends and family to join you. Once you have decided your route and invited friends and family to join you, please set up your own fundraising page under the team page here: https://justgiving.com/campaign/ma-memory-walk-2023.

Having everyone who is supporting us for this memory walk under one team page allows us all to see other people who are also commemorating their losses by joining the memory walk and the collective effort they are making for the Miscarriage Association, which may help us all to feel more connected during the challenge.

We regret that due to unprecedented demand, our specific memory walk T-shirts are now out of stock. If you would like to take part in the walk and would like a T-shirt, we can send you a Miscarriage Association-branded shirt.

More resources are available on our website to print at home – please visit our fundraising page here for more information and to download what you need: https://www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising/baby-loss-awareness-week-our-2023-miscarriage-association-memory-walk/ If you don’t have access to a printer then do let us know and we can post whatever you need.

Once again, many thanks for your support – you’re making a real difference to people at what can be a really tough time. Every penny you can add to the overall total will help us to continue to be there to help people through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy, and we really do appreciate your support.

We’ll be here to support you every step of the way.
