Organised by Maggie's CentresSeven of London's leading business bosses have been found guilty of outrageous charges & are locked up for Maggie's. With only a phone, laptop & their powers of persuasion, they now need your help to raise funds to pay their bail!
We thought it would be fun to approach local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To our delight seven agreed, and here we are today. Our courageous defendants have been charged with outrageous crimes such as: "Booking back to back meetings on a Friday" and "Causing actual harm to people’s sense of humour by the persistent, wilful and deliberate use of the worst kind of Dad jokes - unfunny ones".
Representing organisations including GovNet, Grant Thornton, LSEG, Newton Investment and many more, the defendants will stand before 'Judge' Kingston, be found guilty, and be sent into custody. The Lock up the Leaders event has been made possible with thanks to Maggie's long-standing supporters Stanhope PLC.
Bail for each will be set at £1,500. They are counting on your support. Their freedom and reputation depend on it! Lock up the Leaders is sure to be fun for everyone involved, and there is an important reason behind the event: to raise funds for Maggie's. For many people living with cancer Maggie's is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people at any stage and with any type of cancer, and to their family and friends.
In the past decade the our London centres have welcomed over 70,000 visits, provided thousands of hours of 1-2-1 psychological and specialist cancer support. With over 50% of the population being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it has never been more essential to have access to the support available at Maggie’s. The prisoners have until 2pm on Thursday 8th May to fundraise their way to freedom using their mobile phones, laptops and social media channels.
