Make Over Mill Lane

Over the last 31 years, Mill Lane Garden Centre has supported people with a learning disability through training and certifications. It’s time to replace our building with one that can grow with us, and support more people with a learning disability.

Story

In 1992 a group of people built a building. This building was predicted to last 15 years to serve its purpose, 31 years later it still stands proud. This building has nurtured people with a learning disability through training and certifications, and it has provided the foundation for a successful non-profit garden centre. To say this building has served its purpose is an understatement, but we have not finished serving our purpose. We are not ready to stop supporting people with a learning disability through training for employment, we’re not ready to let our building limit the support we provide, and we’re not ready to stop being the local favourite Christmas tree market.

It is with both a heavy heart and excitement for the future, that we have decided to rebuild Mill Lane Garden Centre.

The new building will come with new features, new potential, and more services to offer the people we support and our customers. Included in the plans are spaces for an indoor and outdoor shop, and changing room, a kitchen, a learning space, and an office. These new spaces will enable us to offer more learning opportunities for the people we support and increase interaction with the public.

Our phase one target is £6,000! This might seem like a lot, but it will fund a lot of work done by the architects, consultants, and engineers who will be building the new and improved Mill Lane.

It’s piles on piles of paperwork, lots of very serious sounding phone calls and meetings, and lots of people in suits and hardhats carrying clipboards. But what this means, is this is the beginning of our future, and we want you to be a part of it.

Our phase two target is another £6,000!

This will pay for the full building application to be submitted to London Borough of Camden. This is where a group of people from the local council could give us the green light to make our plans a reality.

With your generous support, stacks of paperwork will turn into bricks, serious phone calls and meetings will turn into cuppas and a chat with the builders, and people in suits will still be people in suits, but they’ll be attending the opening day of the new and improved Mill Lane Garden Centre.

Your name will be forever etched into the foundations of this new building, a tribute to the enthusiasm you have for the people supported by Mill Lane and the support you have shown for our future.
