Story

The Rugby Portobello Trust is honoured to be chosen as one of RBKC Mayor Cllr David Lindsay's Mayoral Charities for 2022/23.

The Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT) has been supporting the North Kensington community since 1884, was frontline on the Grenfell Tower relief effort and is a recipient of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services (2020).

Giving me space to de-stress when things got so tough and when I was struggling emotionally, RPT was always there to help me with words of encouragement. That support has really improved my mental health and wellness."

RPT support more than 1,300 children, young people and vulnerable women every year through our employment, academic, sporting, creative art and mental wellbeing programmes. The vast majority of our programmes are entirely free to those who use them, ensuring we're supporting those who need us most.

Coming to RPT has helped my self-esteem because I've been able to meet new people my age and make new friends. I also get to use the gym, which has been a great stress reliever."

Our services will cost £1.2m to run over the current financial year and more than 80% of that funding will come from local residents and small family trusts and foundations.
