Story
We are proud to announce that Matt Hampson will be leading a team of more than 20 incredible supporters as they take on the world-famous 26.2-mile marathon route in 2026, running from Greenwich to The Mall to raise vital funds for the expansion of our Get Busy Living Centre.
One of these participants is Hambo himself. He will take on the TCS London Marathon, supported by a team of runners made up of supporters and beneficiaries of the Matt Hampson Foundation. Matt was on the verge of a professional rugby career when he was seriously injured in an England Under-21s training session in 2005, leaving him paralysed from the neck down and breathing via a ventilator.
Rather than dwell on what he had lost, Matt chose to focus on what he could do – to Get Busy Living. With the incredible support he received during 17 months in hospital, he created his Foundation to help other young people rebuild their lives after life-changing injuries in sport.
This marathon is Matt’s own endurance challenge. Inspired by the many supporters and beneficiaries who push themselves to raise funds each year, he will be completing the 26.2-mile route from Greenwich to The Mall with his team beside him.
By supporting this challenge, you will help the Foundation continue its vital work at the Get Busy Living Centre in Leicestershire and expand its reach through new regional hubs, ensuring even more injured young people receive the physical, psychological and social support they need to move forward with confidence.
“This is my Everest,” Matt says.
“London is my chance to raise funds for the Foundation and raise awareness of the incredible people we support every day.”
Thank you so much for your donation. It really does make a difference.
Please help us Get Busy Living.
