Human Appeal Australia (HAA) aims to strengthen humanity’s fight against poverty and social injustice. Through the provision of immediate relief and establishment of self-sustaining development programs, we aim to invest in real, effective solutions. By establishing firm and loyal grass root relationships with local, national and international partners we are able to access some of the most hard to reach places at the most vulnerable of times. HAA believes that establishing stable health care, education and income generation programmes, paves the way for empowered, self-serving communities. Through the provision of immediate relief and establishment of sustainable development programmes, we aim to invest in real effective solutions. We also recognise that the provision of food, medical aid and emergency shelter in times of humanitarian crises is essential for the immediate preservation of life. As such, we value the importance of a multidimensional aid approach, and therefore dedicate our time respectively between emergency relief and long term development.

Story

The growing hostilities unfolding in Lebanon have led to an alarming deterioration of an already widespread humanitarian crisis.

As of September 2024, a series of violent attacks across the country resulted in the deaths of over 500 people including children and more than 5,000 people injured according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The devastating escalation of violence is being described as the country’s deadliest days of conflict since 2006, as the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFL) expresses a “grave concern” for the safety of civilians in impacted regions.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) in Lebanon has reported that hospitals and medical facilities, particularly in the South, are “at capacity with injured patients” as the ongoing crisis places a heavy toll on the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The rapid decline in safety and security over the past months has had a detrimental effect on millions of residents in the country, forcing the internal displacement of more than 96,000 people according to the UN’s OCHA. Thousands of more civilians are reported to have fled Lebanon’s south as the situation escalates.

Statistically, Lebanon holds the largest population of refugees per capita, meaning many of these people are at a constant risk of even further displacement and danger due to the ongoing emergency.

Human Appeal Australia’s presence in Lebanon has been prevalent for decades through actively responding to emergencies and providing lifesaving aid. Our team of paramedics is currently in full effect, trying to save as many lives as possible.

We are focused on ensuring civilians and refugees are able to attain access to critical resources including nutrition, bedding, hygiene kits and medical aid.

With your help, we can work together to mitigate the ongoing devastation faced by civilians in Lebanon and bring much needed relief to the many communities suffering at this very moment.
