Story

This campaign is now over. Thank you to everyone who donated! We are extremely grateful for your support.

2020 was a year of terrible news. It was also a year of confusion and polarisation. From the pandemic to the Black Lives Matter movement, Brexit and the US election, there was fierce disagreement about what is true or what should be done.

This January, start the new year by doing something positive about the news! From January 5th until the end of February, take on our virtual challenge. We can't run from the news, but we can cycle, run, walk, hop or skip to empower young people with the skills to engage with it positively!

All donations made by your friends and family who sponsor you will go towards the charity's fundraising target, helping more young people globally to develop news-literacy skills that can make a real difference to their lives.

About the charity

We are an independent charity that was set up from inside The Economist in 2012. Our mission is to change young people’s lives by giving them the skills to think and speak for themselves about current affairs.
