We protect and support children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support. We ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives. Our vision is that every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Story

Action for Children plays a vital role in Omagh and the surrounding area, offering life-changing support to residents facing crisis or ongoing poverty. We work closely with families to give children the best start in life, support young people with their mental health, and help those at risk of homelessness stay safe.

One of our key services is the Early Intervention Family Support Service, based in Omagh and supporting families across Omagh, Fermanagh, and nearby rural communities. This service helps parents and carers of children aged 0–17 address challenges early, offering support at home or in centre-based settings. Families receive practical guidance, a non-judgemental listening ear, and access to regular parenting workshops. Children and young people up to age 17 can also receive direct support for issues such as emotional wellbeing, anxiety, bullying, or parental separation.

We also coordinate the Early Intervention Family Support Hubs in Omagh and Fermanagh. These multi-agency networks assess family needs and connect professionals and families with the most appropriate local support at the right time.

For young people aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk, we provide a Floating Support service across Fermanagh and Omagh. This flexible, person‑centred service helps young people feel safe and secure, whether they are care leavers or moving into independent living. Support covers housing, finances, health, behaviour, life skills, and access to education or training — because everyone deserves a stable home. A dedicated Participation Worker also provides social inclusion and wellbeing activities for young people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.

Action for Children is well-loved locally, with businesses and residents regularly donating food and fuel vouchers. This crisis support has been essential during a time when rising living costs are affecting so many families in the area.

Our staff are local people too — many of whom proudly support and take part in the Omagh Half Marathon.

Any support you can give is truly appreciated! 😊
