In October 2027, Team Overgate will travel to China to take on one of the most iconic challenges in the world – trekking the legendary Great Wall of China.

Together, we’ll begin our adventure at Taipingzhai, trekking across historic and remote sections of the Wall before finishing at Huangyaguan. Stretching for more than 13,000 miles, the Great Wall is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring landmarks, rich in history and surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.

This trek will be a real test of stamina and determination. Along the way we’ll tackle steep climbs, rugged terrain and the famous Heavenly Ladder – a near-vertical staircase that will push us both physically and mentally. But when we reach the ancient watchtowers and look out across the Wall winding endlessly across the mountains, every step will feel worthwhile. It promises to be an unforgettable adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But this challenge is about much more than the trek itself.

By taking on the Great Wall of China, we are raising vital funds for Overgate Hospice, helping to ensure local people living with life-limiting illnesses receive the compassionate care and support they need. The hospice provides specialist medical care, emotional support and guidance not only for patients, but also for their families and loved ones during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Every step we take on the Great Wall and every pound raised will help Overgate Hospice continue this incredible work within our community.
