Help The Pioneer Build a Skatepark for the Whole Community
We’re raising £200,000 to build a brand-new outdoor skatepark at The Pioneer in St Albans – and we need your help to make it happen!
Back in 1990s, a crew of passionate volunteers built the original park from scratch, creating a space where generations of local skaters, in-liners, and scooter riders have grown up, found community, and learned life lessons on wheels. It’s been amazing – but after nearly 30 years of action, it’s time for a major upgrade.
That’s why we’re working with the awesome team at Betongpark to design and build a new, professionally crafted outdoor concrete park that’s safer, smoother, and way more fun for everyone. It’ll still have the heart and spirit of the original – just with better flow, more creative lines, and a design that will last for decades to come. It will solidify our future not only in the skateboard scene but also solidify our future here forever.
This isn’t just about new ramps. It’s about giving young people a place to belong. A place to fall and get back up (literally). A place to make friends, build confidence, stay active, and just be. In a world that can be tough to navigate, especially for young people, we want to offer a space that’s safe, supportive, and seriously fun.
We also want this place to be for everyone. Where the old teach the new, where the metaphorical torch of skateboarding can be passed between generations. We all know The Pioneer means a lot to many people and with your help, we can continue to make this dream a reality.
Skating teaches resilience, patience, and creativity. It builds community. It keeps you moving – body and mind. At our charity, we’ve seen first-hand how a skatepark can change lives.
So whether you skate, support youth work, or just want to back something that makes a difference, we’d love your help. Let’s build this together.
