Story
6 year old Fraser is raising money towards helping the Pioneer Skatepark build their new outdoor skate park by completing an 8 hour skate marathon on the 9th of August 2025.
Fraser began skating a year ago at the Pioneer Skatepark and his love of skating has grown with every skate! Skating has given Fraser a supportive, validating hobby that has built his confidence and resilience and inspired him to push himself to new limits...like an 8 hour skate!
The amazing space, community and staff at the Pioneer Skatepark have inspired Fraser to do his bit to fundraise for the new skatepark.
Fraser will skate for 8 hours with food and toilet breaks and would love it if you would support him by sponsoring his skate. We hope the weather will be good enough to skate outside, so why not come along and cheer him on in person on the day!
The Pioneer want to build a Skatepark for everyone, they need to raIse £200,000 to build a new outdoor concrete skatepark at The Pioneer in St Albans.
In the 1990s, volunteers built the original park from scratch. For nearly 30 years, it’s been a home for skaters, in-liners and scooter riders to learn, grow and connect. Fraser's Dad learnt to skate at the Pioneer and it's incredible that 30 years later Fraser is doing the same!
Pioneers are working with Betong Park to create a safer, smoother, more creative space that still holds the spirit of the original – just with better flow and a design that’ll last for decades.
This isn’t just about ramps. It’s about giving young people a place to belong, to fall and get back up, to build confidence and community.
The park will be for all ages and skill levels – where the old teach the new, and skate culture continues to thrive.
Skating builds resilience, creativity, and keeps us moving – body and mind.
Help Fraser support this amazing community resource!
