Story

Many Charities have been struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic and small charities like ours are struggling to secure grant funding, so why should you support PIP-UK The Poland Syndrome Charity?

We are the only charity in the UK that provides invaluable support to anyone affected by Poland Syndrome, a rare limb difference.

Poland syndrome is a condition where a child is born with missing or underdeveloped chest muscles, and can also extend to the ribs, shoulder, arm, internal organs and hand along one side of the body. The cause is unknown and, although it affects around one in 20,000 babies, its rarity means that little work has been done to collect data or devote medical attention to it in the UK.

With your help we can continue to:

Enable more people, families and carers to access vital support and information to live well with Poland Syndrome.

Connect people with others living with Poland Syndrome to help share lived experiences and know they are not alone.

Raise awareness and raise public and professional education through events and campaigns.

Advance medical research to find treatments, enable an early diagnosis and improve outcomes.

Setting some New Year resolutions? Looking for a new challenge? Planning to lead a healthier lifestyle?

If so, PIP-UK's Give Up to Give Back campaign could be just the thing for you!

What will you Give Up?

The first step is to choose what you are going to give up and how long you are going to give up for.

This challenge is open all year round so you can start whenever it suits you, and the duration is up to you too.

Have a think about what the hardest habit or treat to give up. Some ideas include:

Alcohol, Biting your nails, Cake , Chocolate, Coffee Shop Coffee, Smoking, Social Media, Swearing, Sweets.

Something else entirely? We cant wait to hear your plans.

What will you Give Back?

If you choose to give up something that costs money, you could donate what you save to PIP-UK instead. Or perhaps you could put half away for a rainy day and donate half to us; win win for everyone!

Have you stretched your will-power to its limit? Make sure you tell everyone you know and ask them to sponsor you. Their support will help you to reach your target and keep you motivated too.

You are only human and shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up, you could always make a small donation to PIP-UK and start again the next day.

What's in it for you?

As well as the feel good factor for joining a movement to help support the isolation & difficulties of living with Poland Syndrome, there could well be health benefits linked to your challenge too!

Everyone who takes part and raises funds for us will receive a thank you letter and certificate.

Keeping yourself safe

We advise anyone who is trying to give up something they are dependent on to speak with their GP before committing to this fundraising idea.
