Story

DSUK believe that taking part in adaptive snowsport has the power to transform a persons relationship with not just their disability, but with all aspects of their lives. We believe that all people have the right to access the unique physical, mental, and social benefits of snowsport, regardless of disability, injury, or experience. Last year saw disabled communities disproportionately affected by the global pandemic, while DSUK schools had to shut their doors. According to The Health Foundation, disabled people were more likely to feel lonely and anxious.

To help DSUK tackle impacts of the pandemic we are excited to launch the annual Race the Train event in picturesque Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands. You will undertake a 7k trail race within the Cairngorm National Park, from Boat of Garten along the beautiful Speyside Way to finish in Aviemore. Race follows the tracks of Strathspey Steam Train where you will be able to LITERALLY - RACE THE TRAIN! The race is finalised at the Cairngorm Brewery, where you can enjoy a local beer and a well-deserved rest.

Fundraising Target: £100 per person (If you raise the target before event day, you will have a chance to go on the traiditional steam train from registration desk in Aviemore to starting point at Boat of Garten).

Easing restrictions allows DSUK to bring adaptive lessons back to slopes to continue positively impacting mental health and self-confidence of our members, which is more important now than ever before. This, however, comes at additional cost of safety measures and equipment, for which DSUK relies on our dedicated supporters. The fundraising target for you is just £100 to raise ahead of the event day. This amount helps us subsidise lessons for members, or purchase necessary equipment to make sure we can support people with various disabilities. Every few weeks in the lead up to the event, the top fundraisers will win exciting prizes to show our appreciation of your efforts!
