Why the Kelpies Challenge matters
On Friday 10 October 2025, Re-engage supporters will come together at Scotland’s striking Kelpies to take on a challenge of stamina and spirit. This event is about more than miles. It is about making sure that no older person feels forgotten, invisible or alone.
The reality of loneliness
Loneliness among older people is growing. Almost half a million people over 75 go at least five days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone. Many describe their days as empty, with nothing to look forward to.
As one guest told us:
“The phone doesn’t ring and the silence can feel endless. When Re-engage call, I feel human again.”
What Re-engage does
Re-engage creates meaningful social connections through:
* Tea parties that bring laughter and friendship
* Call Companions who check in regularly with isolated older people
* Gentle activity groups that help people stay active and independent
Every gift, big or small, helps to build these moments of connection.
How your donation helps
*£5 could help enable a lonely older person to put a monthly social event in their otherwise empty calendar.
*£28 could help fund a place for a lonely older person at a monthly tea party.
*£250 could fund a whole year of weekly phone calls for an isolated older person.
Together we can make change
By supporting the Kelpies Challenge, you are part of something bigger. You are helping thousands of older people rediscover the joy of friendship and belonging.
“I feel alive again. I’ve got friends and something to look forward to.” – Re-engage guest
Thank you for making this possible.
