Story
Reach Beyond is working with NGOs based on the Greek Island of Lesbos with a particular focus to help the women and children in the Moria refugee camp. We take teams out to spend anything from 1 week to 3 months on the island, to help with the distribution of food inside the camp, assisting at the Women's Centre, and at the school.
Each team takes out various items with them to provide resources for the school and kids clubs.
We also distribute female urination devices (Shewees) among the women. These are given out to the women through the Women's Centre, and means that they don't have to leave their tents at night, giving them extra security and saving them from the indignity of making improvised nappies.
The camp, which was built to accommodate 3,000 people, currently has over 20,000 'residents', which causes many difficulties and creates an atmosphere where dignity and humanity is hard to find. Our work helps to bring hope and a little respite in this difficult place.
