Story
Since 1999, Animals Asia has worked hand in hand with the government of Vietnam, communities and traditional medicine practitioners to end bear bile farming – a practice that causes immense suffering and has driven the Asiatic black bear toward extinction.
In 2017, we signed a historic agreement with the Vietnamese government, committing to end bear bile farming in Vietnam by 2026. With the unwavering kindness of our supporters, we have rescued nearly 300 bears and built two sanctuaries – our flagship Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre in Tam Dao and our new Bach Ma Bear Rescue Centre, which opened in 2023.
These sanctuaries now stand as symbols of hope – safe, peaceful homes for bears who have known only fear and confinement.
We know we can do it not only because we are the experts in our field - operating two sanctuaries and having rescued over 700 bears already - but because we also have you on our side - our incredible supporters. Your kindness and generosity is the only reason we are where we are today - at this momentous point in our founding mission, and we know you will be there with us to finish the job - step by step, bear by bear, farm by farm, cage by cage, ensuring that no bear is left behind.
Take on a challenge and help us #FreeTheFinalBears in 2026 as we make history and end bear bile farming in Vietnam forever.
