The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileThe majority of our animals come into the centre after being homeless or stray which means it has been a long time since they had the proper care, nutrition or treatment that they need, so it is very common for them to need dental work. Whether it’s a much-needed scale and polish, or full extractions, we can always expect to be taking animals to the vet for dental work each month and in 2022, we spent almost £10,000 on 29 essential dental operations that helped to change the lives of the animals we rescued.
When 10-year-old King Charles Spaniel Tiggy arrived in July 2022, his teeth were in such bad condition that the vets struggled to even examine him due to how loose and painful they were. He had a severe build-up of plaque and dental disease on every tooth which made them very wobbly and caused him constant pain. This discomfort meant he struggled to eat and play, and he couldn’t even enjoy having cuddles properly because everything around his face and mouth was just so sore. Our vets booked him in for an urgent operation and in the end, they removed all of his badly damaged teeth. After his mouth had healed, it was clear to see that Tiggy had been given a new lease of life. The sad face and underbite we had been used to seeing was long gone and had been replaced by a big smile. He could now enjoy a pain free life, eating and playing like a happy dog should. He had also turned into a champion snuggle buddy now that he was more comfortable. Tiggy’s story is just one example of how drastically dental work can improve an animal’s life and how vital it is for us to be able to provide it.
In May 2023 alone, we have faced dental bills of £1,400+. We are now raising funds to ensure dental work will be able to be provided for the animals still to come through our doors this year. Our charity receives no government funding and so relies entirely on the generosity of our supporters in order to continue caring for homeless and abandoned animals.
