Story
Pippa was bathing her 11-month-old baby, Luke, and his older sibling.
She popped out of the room for two minutes to take a call – all the while she could hear her children splashing about.
When she returned, Pippa saw Luke's bath seat was empty. He was face down in the water, floating still.
Pippa pulled him, horrified, from the bath. He was lifeless and grey – no heartbeat, no pulse, no breathing – he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Luckily, Pippa had grown up learning how to deliver CPR and first aid to people of different ages. She laid Luke on the floor and gave him rescue breaths before starting chest compressions.
Her quick actions saved her little son’s life - he's now had his sixth birthday. Pippa said:
I am so lucky to have known how to deliver CPR; I know not every parent has this knowledge.

Right now, over a third of people in the UK have never learned CPR.
Most of them wouldn’t know what to do in Pippa’s situation.
We think everybody should know how to restart a heart! Equipped with the knowledge of CPR, anyone could save the life of their child, parent, friend or colleague one day.
No one should feel powerless to help in a cardiac emergency. Let’s make sure everyone across the UK feels confident and ready to act when every second counts.
Donate today to bring CPR training and knowledge to every corner of the nation. Thank you!

How could your donation help?
• £5 – could teach one more person how to restart a heart
• £14 – can help us influence government policy around equal access to lifesaving training across the UK
• £51 – could train your neighbourhood in CPR by helping them hire a hall
• £75 – can start a ripple effect by training someone to train others
These are examples of RCUK's project costs - we'll make sure to use your donation where it will have the biggest impact.
