Story
There is a story behind every mile we travel. In Malawi, most girls walk or bike about 10 kilometers (6 miles) each way to get to school. In a country where only 6% of girls finish secondary school and less than 1% complete post-secondary degrees, AGE Africa is committed to going the extra mile to help girls become Malawi's future leaders.
Through comprehensive scholarships, peer-driven life skills education, and post-secondary transition support, over 90% of AGE Africa scholars graduate from secondary school. Almost half continue to college or vocational school.
Ride for Malawi - September 25, 2021
AGE Africa has formed the Ride for Malawi team as part of the DC Bike Ride to support our programs. Riders are invited to cycle 20 miles through car-free streets in Washington, DC, alongside AGE Africa's Board of Directors, staff, and supporters. The bike ride will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Register here to ride with us, and use promo code AGEAfrica to receive a $15 discount.
The DC Bike Ride is a major annual fundraiser with proceeds going towards the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit that seeks to help the recovery process of veterans who were wounded in combat. The ride embodies the spirit of community and helps the Ride's mission of growing bicycling throughout the region. And, registering supports the city's advocacy, education, and outreach work that makes bicycling more safe, fun, and accessible around the region. Each year, this ride draws hundreds of cyclists. We are proud of our work with our community in Malawi and are excited to support our DC community.
