SAHODAR UK exists to support our sister charity SAHODAR Nepal.

Nepal SAHODAR Nepal was established 20 years ago with the vision of providing quality health services, practical education and community development work to the people of Lamjung districts and surrounding areas targeting the poorest of the poor, disadvantaged and marginalized communities. SAHODAR was born out of the vision of a family who were miraculously given the rare opportunity to have an education, which has led to their current positions of influence within and beyond the immediate community. They not only had the vision, but lived it and guided other family members to be 'Jesus like' models for others.

The current highly regarded 15 bed cottage hospital serving a vast area, is no longer sufficient to meet the needs. Work is well advanced in completing a modern 50 bed teaching hospital to meet the health needs, provide health education, training and much needed employment opportunities. There is now an urgent need to equip and staff the new hospital.

A wing of this new building is currently being used to isolate and treat patients suffering from COVID-19. Without this facility, sadly, many more people will probably have died. The original hospital building continues to treat all other medical needs, a service the community is immensely grateful for.

At the time of the Nepal earthquakes of 2015, SAHODAR was at the heart of critical relief work in the community and was greatly praised for it's effective response.
