Story

Help us raise £38,000 at this years Santa Dash so we can continue providing our services to people with terminal illnesses, and their families, over the festive period.

Hundreds of festive fundraisers will descend upon Victoria Park dressed as Santa and his elves on Sunday 9th December to take on a 5k run, jog or walk to raise money for The Myton Hospices!

This year we have to raise £9.6million of the £12.3 million we need to continue providing our services free of charge, we cant do it without support from people like you.

The money you raise means more people can benefit from Mytons care, like the Sherrington family did. Twin brothers Mat and Ben Sherrington were only 14 when their mum Susan died, and their last Christmas together still holds a very special place in their hearts 13 years later.

The family had been told Susan would not make it to see Christmas Day in 2005 when she was admitted to Warwick Myton Hospice, so the staff pulled out all the stops to make sure Susan could celebrate Christmas early. Everything from presents under the tree to a proper Christmas dinner and even a pantomime made sure the family would always have fond festive memories.

And even though 13 years have passed since, Mat and Ben still remember the time they spent at Myton clearly, including a piano which used to feature on the Inpatient Unit! The brothers agree it was the personal touches that made all the difference and have ensured their memories of their mums time at Myton have always been positive.

Susan did get to spend her last Christmas Day with her family despite her health deteriorating quickly. She died in January 2006 but was able to make some final festive memories with her family to last them a lifetime.

At Myton we do everything we can to make Christmas special for families like the Sherringtons. With your support we can help more families when they need us most, now and in the future so please raise as much sponsorship as you can.
