Since 2021, NightWatch has connected thousands of people with urban wildlife, collecting vital bat data we need to protect bats across the UK. But we urgently need to raise £14,000 by June 2025 to keep it running. Will you help?
NightWatch is a community science project which aims to ensure that everyone can access the benefits of connecting with nature, particularly those in urban areas from minority ethnic communities, and people with disabilities. Volunteers receive a free survey kit through the post to record nearby bats, before we analyse the recordings and provide a personalized report all about the bats discovered.
With 80% of people in England living in urban areas, access to wildlife is limited. NightWatch not only connects communities with nature but also gathers crucial data for bat conservation. Without funding, this unique project will end. Together with the NightWatch community, so far we have:
• Recorded thousands of bats in over 750 survey sites across the UK,
• Reached over 2,000 NightWatchers through surveys, events, and outreach,
• Built a community of volunteer Champions, Local Coordinators, and trusted collaborators bringing NightWatch to new communities.
Here is what NightWatchers have been saying:
The future of NightWatch depends on you. Every donation brings us closer to our goal and helps us make bat monitoring accessible and inclusive for all.

• £15 covers the cost of sending and returning NightWatch kit to one volunteer,
• It costs around £100 to complete each survey from start to finish including using the technology we require to run the survey,
• It costs around £130 to support a Local Coordinator with delivering NightWatch surveys direct to their communities.
Spread the word – share our campaign.
Together, we can save NightWatch and protect urban bats. Will you join us?
