Story

The revised application for the new development North of the Burnham Road will result in traffic chaos - especially when combined with a significant population expansion in The Dengie. It will slow the traffic on the B1012 and create gridlock as it did on 23/24 January 2022 when the KFC crossing was installed. At peak times it will be next to impossible to get in or out of South Woodham and large swathes of The Dengie - and roads through South Woodham will also be gridlocked.

We know from the surveys of public opinion we have undertaken that you want something done in order to ensure that the infrastructure (which is already stretched to the limit and beyond) is improved commensurately with any new developments in the area. We also know that the revised planning application is, as expected, a fudge. What was needed was a complete rethink of plans which have been shown to be unworkable. What we've got is a bit of tinkering around the edges - an ineffectual attempt to paper over the cracks - and no attempt to take account of the combined effect of ALL the new developments in the area.

Whilst it is easy to see the shortcomings in the plans, that's not good enough to make the planners sit up and take notice. A formal report from a planning/transportation/infrastructure consultant who will go through the revised application line by line is needed. The surveys confirm that you would like us to commission one ... and, as a last resort (if all other options fail) that you would like a legal opinion on the possibility of Judicial Review. Many of you said you'd be prepared to contribute to an updated report - so now is the time to do just that as THE FIRST STEP is to get this ready to submit to the planners before the deadline: December 10th. (This report would be required before any lawyer would agree to giving an opinion)

We know times are hard at present - so please just give what you can comfortably afford.
