Story
Martlets is a local charity, providing essential services to people affected by life-limiting illness in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas. Our expert teams provide the very best hospice care and support, helping patients and their loved ones live life to the full during the precious time they have together. From terminal cancer and end-stage heart disease to neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and motor neurone disease, we’re here when you need us most.
Most people receive care from us in their own homes. Others with more complex needs to spend their final days or weeks on our inpatient wards, or to join us for periods of symptom management or respite care. Outpatients visit our hospice for pain relief, physiotherapy, counselling, complementary therapies and social activities. Our care also extends to families, who are offered ongoing bereavement support as well as opportunities to come together and celebrate the lives of their loved ones at remembrance events.
The exceptional care Martlets provides is free thanks to the support of local people, businesses and trusts. It costs £11 million a year to keep Martlets caring – a government grant provides 24% of our income, but we rely on the community for the majority of our funding. You can show your support by fundraising, volunteering, or leaving us a gift in your Will.
Corporate partnerships are also a great way to work together to raise your business profile and fundraise for us – through strategic partnerships, events, sponsorship and in-kind support. By getting involved, you can help achieve social responsibility goals, engage and motivate your staff and ensure you participate in the wellbeing of your community.
