Visit the charity's profileThe extent of poverty in the heart of a large Delhi Slum is unimaginable. Deep inside the slum, where everyday poses many challenges such as a lack of fresh water, no services to remove waste and rubbish and mosquitoes posing serious health problems lives Happy Masih, an incredible man who founded and runs a school for the forgotten slum children. This school is making such an incredible difference to the lives of the children which attend. This school has been running now for five years. There is currently one teacher who teaches the CBSE curriculum in all subjects to the children who are of mixed ages. It is a wonderful project which has been funded almost the whole time by Happy out of his meagre monthly wage. The school is formally known as the Ashish Ashirewad Society Tuition Centre.
The school building is old and extremely dilapidated. The roof is made of plastic and bamboo and has been damaged by water, cats and birds and badly needs repair. The whole building doesn't have any foundations. In order to make the building secure, and enable for expansion of the school by building upwards, the building needs knocking down, foundations being dug and then re-building.
