Story
Our bespoke hospice care not only includes a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family, specialist nursing care and respite, symptom management, end-of-life care and bereavement support, we also help to make every moment count for children living with life-limiting conditions. Children just like Nicholas. Nicholas was born eight weeks premature, with a chromosomal abnormality. He was later diagnosed with lymphoedema, a chronic condition that causes swelling in the bodys tissues. Last year, during the coronavirus pandemic, Nicholas stayed with us for emergency respite. During his stays at our hospice, we helped Nicholas to build and launch his very own space rocket, which became the inspiration for the Shooting Star Space Race.
Its an astronomical 238,855 miles to the moon and we only have 31 days to get there. We felt this was a little too extreme, even for TeamShootingStar. So, using our very special formula (1 earth mile = 50 space miles), we need your help to travel the 4,777 miles it is from Earth to the moon.
Whether you run, walk or cycle (or you can even swim, skoot, skate or skip!), by joining our Space Race team, youll be helping to ensure we can continue to make every moment count for children just like Nicholas; now and for many lightyears.
