"Following the recent announcement that Plymouth has been awarded £30 million to build a new Urgent and Emergency Care Hub, Plymouth Hospitals Charity and the Childrens Happy Hospital Fund are proposing any money raised for the SplashED appeal will go towards items for interior design that are transferable to the new building, said Plymouth Hospitals Charity Development Manager, Corinne Bailey.
The charities are hoping that people, families and children will get behind the Splash'ED' Appeal and help them raise £10,000. The money raised will go towards items for interior design that are transferable to the new buildings. The vision is to create a calm space, where children will get side-tracked through play and beautiful images, rather than worrying about what might happen to them next.
If we don't manage to make the target, we will still spend all the donations on creating a lovely child-friendly space within the new Paediatric Accident and Emergency Department.
In Plymouth alone, there are over 53,000 children, and more live within the Trust's surrounding catchment areas. Over 16,000 of these young people were treated in the Emergency Department in the last year.
Plymouth Hospital's Charity and the Children's Happy Hospital Fund have joined together to run an appeal called Splash'ED'. The Trust is building the Paediatric expansion and the two charities are hoping to raise enough money to put a Splash of Colour on all the walls, going over and above what the NHS can provide to make the area look and feel much more child-friendly.
