Story
Over the last decade, over 130 UK Wholesale, Convenience, FMCG and Service Provider executives have cycled across Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, the UK and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and most recently Tanzania, raising over £1.5 million for MAG (Mines Advisory Group) – the Manchester based charity, awarded Co-Laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its role in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
Every day, 17 people are killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs. Half of casualties are children. MAG’s teams around the world remove these items for good from communities affected by conflict. Every landmine and weapon taken out of the ground is a life saved, an injury prevented, and a community given the chance to rebuild.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to postpone the Sri Lanka Cycle Challenge 2026 and reschedule to 2027, and this really is the last “one for the road” and the 11th challenge taken on by the Bikes Against Bombs team. We are so grateful for all the support for the team so far and the new dates see the team leave the UK on Saturday 30th January 2027 and cycle for five days, returning on Sunday 7th February 2027. This fantastic team of senior leaders will come together to we tackle the heat and hills of this beautiful country whilst raising vital funds for MAG, helping to make the world a safer place.
By sponsoring the team today, you are helping to save lives and build futures around the world and put an end to the tragic impacts of war from conflicts new and old.
