Story
Step Up for Young Carers

Young carers in the Tees Valley spend an average of 25 hours each week looking after a loved one — on top of school, homework, and everyday life. This June, we’re asking you to Step Up for Young Carers.
We support children as young as 5 years old who are helping at home with:
Cooking, cleaning and household tasks
Helping manage medication or routines
Looking after brothers or sisters
Offering emotional support to a parent or family member
Attending appointments or translating
...That’s a lot for any child to carry.

Take on one of our meaningful challenges:
❤️100 Miles in June – walk, jog or run the distance in your own time
❤️A Mile a Day – walk, jog or run a mile each day and walk in their shoes
❤️250 Mile Team Challenge - walk, jog or run 250 miles between your group
Every mile you move helps The Junction provide short breaks, respite, activities, peer support, and emotional guidance for young carers who give so much of themselves.

🎖️ Every participant who completes a challenge receives a special Junction pin badge and personalised certificate.
Step up, support young carers, and make every mile count. ❤️
