Story

Social Link is a small charity operating in South Bucks to help adults with learning disabilities to realise their potential. It is all about turning those disabilities into abilities, and creating valuable opportunities which will build confidence and embed skills for future independence.

Fundraising is crucial for Social Link to enable their dedicated team to deliver practical and person-centred activities. They have vibrant day project services, energetic evening clubs, and a Gardening Crew who work out in the community. That is not all, they hope to open a café soon which will be run by adults with learning disabilities who wish to get skilled-up before entering the world of work.

The Ford-RideLondon-Essex 100 route starts at Victoria Embankment and heads out of London past the Olympic Park and on into Essex, with a section of the route a replica of the 2014 Tour de France stage that went through the county and back to central London, before finishing in spectacular fashion at Tower Bridge. Please help me to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.

Social Link works with adults with learning disabilities in Wycombe, Aylesbury and the surrounding areas to promote independence, encourage social interaction and provide a safe environment to make genuine friendships. Our approach is to help our members focus on what they can achieve and not limitations. Our members have a broad range of abilities but each day we see them taking on new challenges with confidence and enthusiasm. Members attend to take part in a range of stimulating activities. Activities include newsletter sessions to boost literacy, media and music sessions where members can record and edit their own performances, fitness sessions from beat the goalie to zumba. We also offer project based art sessions often in collaboration with third party organisations. We can also boast a gardening service for those members who are always on the go!
