Story
The worst storm in 30 years has hit Muzondo village in Zimbabwe and destroyed the roof of Jessie's House school building. It means 160 children in our care have no safe haven, school or day care centre.
Jessie's House was once the hub of this small, remote village in the heart of Africa and the community are in shock at the devastation. We cannot open the project or infant school until the roof is repaired.
Our goal is to raise £3,620 which will go solely on roofing materials. We're grateful that local builders and villagers have offered to fix the roof for free.
The strong and sudden whirlwind caused other damage within the village when it hit and some local homes have been destroyed. If we raise over our target of £3,620 we will use this extra money to help the villagers rebuild their ruined homes.
We will run this appeal for 4 weeks, ending on 6th March. We aim to respond to this need as urgently as we can to avoid prolonged interruption to the childrens schooling, prevent further damage to our building caused by Zimbabwes current rainy season and recognising our local builders and volunteers suggestion the work will take about 10 working days to complete.
Please help us if you can to rebuild the roof of Jessie's House.
