Peakirk St Pega Church Roof Appeal

Organised by St Pega's Church

After thieves stole lead from our church 18 months ago we now have a repair bill of £120k. Despite grants and fundraising this has seriously depleted our funds and threatens the future of the church.

A small church at the centre of a small village of less than two hundred houses, services are held regularly and events are organised to involve our local community. Our annual expenditure is approximately £25,000 which we aim to meet through regular giving and fundraising events.

Story

St Pega's church Peakirk is the only church dedicated to this saint. She was the daughter of a Mercian noble family. Her brother Guthlac founded nearby Crowland Abbey. She came to Peakirk in the early 8th Century and established a Christian community which evolved into the church still standing which is over a thousand years old and contains important 14th century wall paintings. Church finances are always a challenge but with churches currently closed and the financial damage caused by the roof lead theft, we are looking at all options to raise money to ensure the preservation of this beautiful ancient building and its wall paintings.
