We are a charity focussed on closing the gap in sport and ensuring that women and girls are given the same opportunities to participate, officiate, coach and lead in all aspects within sport. The organisation is supported by a strong group of volunteers and together they have a common goal to increase participation at all levels in sport and work towards equality for women and girls. Our flagship event is in November when we hold our Annual Awards which enables us to showcase not only success in participation, but allows us to showcase so many others involved in sport, who largely go unrecognised. We deliver an annual conference and in 2023 we launched our Young Women in Sports Leadership in partnership with SAMH, The Scottish Association for Mental Health. We help showcase women in sport through our active social media platforms and work in partnership with many organisation's through collaboration and support.

Story

Scottish Women in Sport is a charity (SCO44496) with a vision for a world where women and girls have equal and fair opportunities in sport. Our role is one of campaigning and advocacy and we have three main areas that we focus on.

We deliver an annual conference looking at the issues that face women and girls in sport and engage with experts to impart their wisdom and knowledge. We also celebrate women and girls in sport through our Annual Awards Dinner, held in Glasgow in November. We celebrate a variety of categories ranging from sportswoman of the year to pioneer in sport, to volunteer in sport.

Another strand to our work is our Young Women in Sports Leadership mentoring programme in partnership with SAMH (The Scottish Action for Mental Health). Understanding the barriers that still face women in gaining leadership roles in various areas of sport, this programme will help to strengthen the mental health of our participant and equip both mentees and mentors with a skill set, to help them navigate the sometimes difficult process of becoming a leader in sport.

We see our purpose as increasing the profile of all women in sport and the various opportunities available to them .Raising awareness of issues facing women in sport and supporting women, clubs and governing bodies through our events.

Our Mission is to advocate for change, elevate voices and enable growth
