Belinda's fundraiser for Scottish Women in Sport (SW/S)

Glasgow Kiltwalk 2025 · 26 April 2025 to 27 April 2025 ·
In our journey towards greater gender equality in sport, we have uncovered a pressing need for change. Our 2021 research revealed a significant gap in leadership roles for women, and the recent analytical report from the "All In Plus: Promoting Greater Gender Equality in Sport" project underscores both the progress made and the persistent disparities that remain.
While this report does not specifically address Scottish or UK sport, we believe its findings resonate deeply with our local context. Leadership roles are crucial for shaping the future of sports, yet women remain significantly underrepresented in decision-making positions. Currently, only 12% of sports federations have a female President, and just 29% feature women as Vice-Presidents or Board members. This lack of representation extends to coaching as well, where women account for only 23% of registered coaches across various countries. Furthermore, when it comes to officiating, women represent merely 32% of sports officials. Participation rates are equally concerning; women and girls make up only 31% of all sports federation members.
As we prepare for the Glasgow Kiltwalk on April 26th, 2025, as part of "Kiltwalk 2025 - Team City," we invite you to join us in advocating for change. Our target is to raise £200 to support initiatives that promote gender equality in sport. Together, we can create a more inclusive environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to lead and participate. Your support is vital in making this vision a reality.
