Story
Main description:
Every year in the UK, babies are born with Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) and Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome). These rare genetic conditions are often misunderstood and families can face isolation, uncertainty, and difficult decisions from the moment of diagnosis.
SOFT UK is the national support organisation for families affected by Trisomy 13 and Trisomy 18. We provide trusted information, peer support, family events, and professional education — ensuring no family faces this journey alone.
This Trisomy Awareness Month, we’re inviting our community to take part in “13 & 18 for SOFT UK.”
It’s simple:
Choose 13 or 18 and do something meaningful.
You could:
• Walk 13,000 or 18,000 steps
• Do 13 or 18 acts of kindness
• Wear or share 13 or 18 rainbow things
• Light a candle at 13:00 or 18:00
• Spend 13 or 18 minutes raising awareness
Take part in your own way, at your own pace, and help raise vital funds for families affected by Trisomy 13 and 18.
• Every donation helps SOFT UK to:
• Support families from diagnosis onwards
• Provide bereavement and peer support
• Deliver family days and community connection
• Educate healthcare professionals
• Improve understanding of Trisomy 13 and 18
Together, we can show that every life matters.
Thank you for being part of our community.
