Story
This project will provide much-needed support & talking therapy to the young (10-18-year-olds) most vulnerable in our area. Particularly if they are from a low-income household. Those suffering from family breakdown, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and those who join gangs, criminal and anti-social behaviour in the community. For the young, life can also be complicated. We know that things like parents' separation, blended families, new babies, and parents with money troubles can affect the whole family. Then there is peer pressure, bullying, and physical and mental health issues. We need to help, guide them and teach them to manage their mental health issues, such as anxiety, stress, anger, and depression.
Our counsellors can help by supporting and teaching them how to manage their lives better and make positive choices. iRelate counsellors can offer children and young people a confidential space where they can talk freely and openly, and they can get the help to build an internal toolbox of awareness, understanding, and strategies to support their future mental health, psychological health, and emotional well-being. The young are our future and supporting them through their growing years by becoming stronger, resilient, confident, and capable adults can only help the wider community. Children and young people often surprise us with their resilience and self-awareness. They can reconnect with their families and communicate better with them. School becomes a place where they can be with friends and show an interest in education and learning skills, bringing them better opportunities in the future. Our goal is to empower young people with the life skills and confidence they need to achieve the bright future they deserve.
