For 25 years, The Bobby Scheme has been providing home security support to those who need it most—older people, those living alone, and individuals at risk.

But every day, we’re contacted by people who fall just outside our funding remit—yet desperately need our help. Vulnerable, isolated, and sometimes completely alone, they are slipping through the cracks.

We’re seeing at least one of these cases every single day.

🔍 Meet JJE

JJE is 64. She lives alone in a remote part of Fenland. She is disabled, mute, has no internet, and can only communicate by text.

She was referred to us by Age UK after being targeted by rogue traders. Her garden was badly overgrown, her gate broken, and there was an active water leak in her home. She couldn’t afford a repair and didn’t know who to turn to—especially after the sudden death of her trusted plumber.

But during our visit, we uncovered something even more troubling: JJE had recently fallen victim to a scam and lost £16,000. She hadn’t told anyone.

With care and support, our team helped her report the loss and begin her recovery.

💪 What We Did

• Cleared the overgrown garden

• Secured the property with a lock, door chain, bolt and dummy camera

• Repaired the side gate

• Connected her with a trusted plumber who fixed the leak free of charge

• Sourced a basic communication system to help her stay connected

• Supported her in reporting the scam to the proper authorities
