5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.

Story

A wonderful team of 10 cyclists is taking on a significant challenge: over 100 miles a day for 4 1/2 days, totalling 475 miles.

The aim of this mighty endeavour is to raise over £50,000 for Hope and Homes for Children. Setting off from the charity's head office in Salisbury, this dedicated group of riders will head for Lands End and back again in an epic 4 1/2-day loop.

The challenge is arduous, but they are determined to cover millions of metres, highlighting the urgent need to help the estimated 5.4 million children across the globe who are needlessly confined to orphanages.

The focus of their fundraising effort is Ukraine, which has one of the largest systems of institutional care in Europe. There are currently almost 100,000 children confined to orphanages across the country. Children deprived of the very thing they need most, the love of a family.

Hope and Homes for Children has been working in Ukraine since 1998, developing a network of Community Centres, Emergency Reception Centres, Mother & Baby Units and supporting over 3,350 children and families.

If the team hits its target they can help Hope and Homes for Children work to transform the lives of at least 50 children from Ukraine. They would be so grateful for your support.

With your generosity, we can continue to turn the tide so that one day, we can close every orphanage in the country and provide a loving family home for every child.

£86 would cover the cost of tracing the families of two children and laying the groundwork for them to be reunited safely with their family.

£600 would allow our experienced family support workers to provide a vulnerable family with the tailored practical and emotional help they need to care for their children and keep them safe from orphanages.

£1,140 would cover the cost of reuniting a child from an orphanage with their family.

100% of all donations will go to the children in the Ukraine.
