Paul Lowe didn’t just teach photography — he taught people how to see.
As a member of The VII Foundation and a mentor to hundreds of young journalists around the world, Paul believed that truth needed witnesses — and that those witnesses needed care, support and courage.
He also believed in movement: the rhythm of a long ride, the calm after a swim, the clarity that comes from a good run. For Paul, sport was about staying grounded; a way to find stillness in a chaotic world.
The Ride for Paul Challenge was created with Paul’s family to honour the two driving forces in his life: journalism and endurance sports.
This is an open invitation to move with purpose, wherever you are, however you can. Whether you’re walking, running, riding, swimming, or donating, your action supports a cause worth fighting for.
Every step, every mile, every contribution raises funds for two urgent needs. Scholarships that provide emerging visual journalists with the tools and opportunities that Paul so generously gave, and initiatives that raise awareness and support those who bear the emotional weight of witnessing and documenting the world’s most challenging stories.
This isn’t about finishing first — it’s about showing up and being present.
