Feed 200 Vulnerable Children in Kibera Kenya

Did you ever have to go to school hungry? This is a daily experience for many children in the Kibera slum, leading to most of them dropping out of school to search for food. We are keeping 200 kids in school through nutritious breakfast and lunch.

The Turning Point Trust is a fantastic charity working with street-children and their families in Kibera slum, Kenya. We believe in working to meet the needs of individual children and supporting people to become the instigators of their own success.

Story

Without food, many children living in Kibera, one of Africa's biggest slums, miss lessons or are unable to focus in class. This leads them dropping out of school and resort to begging or carrying out casual jobs to earn a small income in order to buy food. The streets are a dangerous place for a child in Kibera and they can experience abuse, or involve themselves in crime and drugs. Turning Point's Feeding Programme keeps children off the streets and safely in school.

We provide daily meals to 200 children attending our education programmes. These meals are a real pull-factor encouraging children to attend school every day. With full bellies, they can concentrate in class throughout the day resulting to improved learning outcomes.

By feeding the children, we encourage them to stay in school and focus on their studies. This will, in turn, help them to achieve better results and progress in their education - a crucial factor in succeeding in modern day Kenya. Further, daily nutrition helps them to stay healthy and grow strong.

Help us raise funds to sustain this programme for the next 3 years. With a monthly donation of £15, you can provide a month's meal to a needy child and help them stay in school.
