Story
There are more people trapped in slavery today than at any point in human history, with best estimates suggesting there are 25 million people affected globally. Around a third of these victims are believed to be children.
Tragically, children are easy prey for traffickers. They will target young people living in poverty, and often those who have become separated from their parents and are forced to sleep on the streets. A simple story of a better life in the city, or even the offer of a meal a day, can be enough to trick a child into exploitation and suffering.
Retrak works with more than 35,000 children a year, reaching out to the highly vulnerable in addition to those already affected by exploitation. Our Lighthouses offer children specialist care, support and education, and where possible, we return children home to their families. Through our prevention projects we are empowering mothers in poor communities to protect their children from exploitation and tackle extreme poverty.
Retrak are thrilled to this year partner up with Barclays to not only offer colleagues the chance to take a stand against slavery but to run, swim, cycle, or even climb! Whatever activity you choose, we challenge you to pledge 500 miles and raise £500 to unlock freedom for vulnerable children. Transformation 500 is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, boost your fitness and come together with your team to make a huge impact.
