All Hands and Hearts was on the ground in Turkiye within 48 hours of last week's devastating and heartbreaking earthquakes.
We support families through our unique resilient response model, beginning right after the emergency phase and significantly reducing the time spent waiting for long term recovery efforts to begin. With your help we can immediately address critical needs for temporary shelter, and then quickly stand up high quality, disaster-resistant rebuild projects across the housing and education sectors.
Time and again, we have seen communities struggle for years to recover from the impacts of a disaster, well beyond when the media cycle and the rest of the world has moved on. Three years after the 2015 earthquake in Nepal only one third of schools had been repaired or rebuilt. Today, eight years later All Hands and Hearts remains on the ground, with volunteers supporting the construction of our 26th school. We have worked within communities to create safe, disaster resilient learning environments for almost 10,000 students.
In Turkiye we're aiming to raise at least $1M to support over 5000 families with access to housing and education over the next year. We have more than 200 passionate volunteers from around the world signed to deploy, ready to work alongside those affected, inspired by their strength and courage. We are building a dynamic and compassionate community of donors, local and international partners, government agencies, and Turkish and international volunteers, dedicated to providing collaborative support across this hard hit region.
An estimated 70% of giving occurs within the first two months after a natural disaster and only 5% of giving is allocated to reconstruction and recovery. Donate now to help us make sure these families will not be forgotten in the months and years to come.
