Story
University of Liverpool fundraising for The Walton Centre Charity
Staff and students at the University of Liverpool are coming together in 2025 to raise funds for The Walton Centre Charity, which supports The Walton Centre – the UK's only specialist NHS trust providing pioneering treatments for conditions affecting the brain, spine, nervous system, and pain management.
This campaign is dedicated to the memory of Phil Leonard, former Head of Student Administration at the University and much-loved Master of Ceremonies at graduation events. Phil devoted much of his career to enhancing the student experience, and we are honoured to support a cause that continues his legacy of making a positive impact on others.
The Walton Centre is a key local partner of the University, treating over 180,000 patients each year and serving a catchment area of 3.5 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, the Isle of Man, north Wales, and beyond. Many of our loved ones have received care there, and we are committed to helping ensure it continues to deliver world-leading research and pioneering treatments that benefit both our local and global communities.
Funds raised will help:
• Improve the hospital environment for patients and families
• Invest in cutting-edge technology for clinical treatments
• Fund vital research in neuroscience
• Support specialist staff training and wellbeing
