Story
I am raising money in memory of Glyn and in support of others who are closest to me who are benefiting from the care and expertise provided by The Walton Centre today.
My relationship with the Walton Centre started 20 years ago, when my fiancé Glyn was referred there for tests, aged just 29 years old. The results showed that he was tragically suffering from a very rare terminal illness - variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Despite this being the worst possible news that I could have received, I will always be enormously grateful to TWC, as it was their highly specialist expertise that eventually brought 6 months of misdiagnosis to an end.
Nothing could change the outcome for Glyn, but the diagnosis that we received from TWC meant that we finally had answers and could access the care that he needed in his final months.
So, almost 20 years to the day since we received Glyn's diagnosis, and in the year that he should have celebrated his 50th birthday, I will be climbing Snowdon in his memory.
Since that time, a number of those closest to me have passed through TWCs doors and continue to benefit from the expertise and treatment that we are lucky to have on our doorstep, today.
My hope is that in raising money for the Walton Centre, I will in some small way be helping to support the research, treatment and care that they are benefitting from too.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you would like to show your support, all donations would be very gratefully received.
Thanks
Cath
