Vana Trust Organic Farm is a small mixed farm on the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire border. We raise chickens, ducks, sheep, goats and pigs. We have a large kitchen garden and polytunnel for growing organic fruit, vegetables and herbs. We also have a fully functional kitchen which provides space for our cooking classes.
We provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues to come and work on the farm, to help look after the animals, to grow organic fruit and vegetables and to cook healthy meals at our lunch club.
Our aim is for those attending to develop new skills, gain confidence, become more independent and improve physical fitness. We cater to vulnerable people that are often isolated, lonely, and lacking in social skills. By accessing our programme these areas are greatly improved for our trainees.
We are raising £950.00 to enable us to purchase kune kune piglets and a new pig ark. Pigs have huge therapeutic benefits. Having just lost our eleven-year-old Berkshire pig, we are looking forward to rediscovering the joy that pigs bring to our trainees by buying three new ones.
