Before water arrived in their village, Anja had to walk long, steep, muddy paths to reach an open pond just to collect water - even when she was heavily pregnant! The source wasn’t protected. It was unsafe. But it was the only option.

Since WaterAid partnered with their community, clean, safe water is now accessible close to home and school. Anja is a teacher, and she says the difference in her students is night and day. They’re healthier. They’re cleaner. They’re staying in school.

And Dylan? He’s thriving. He plays, he learns, and he laughs, because now, his mom has time to be with him.

This is what we mean when we say: Change starts with water.
