Story

Help us raise £38,000 at this year's Walk for Myton!

This will help ensure The Myton Hospices can continue to provide its services free of charge to people with a terminal or life limiting illness, and their families, when they need us most.

Hundreds of people will be out enjoying the picturesque Warwickshire countryside with family and friends on Sunday 12th May to raise money for Myton!

Your sponsorship will enable Myton to help more families like Tony Galvins:

Tony Galvin has taken part in Walk for Myton since 2015 following the death of his father-in-law at Coventry Myton Hospice. But his connection to Myton goes back to 2000 when his sister Marion died at Warwick Myton Hospice.

In 2018 Tony turned 60 and to mark his special birthday he decided the 12 mile Walk for Myton route just wasn't enough! Starting at 5am on the day of the event, Tony decided to go double the distance and walked the 12 mile route twice!

Tony said:

My sister Marion was cared for at Warwick Myton Hospice, and my wife's father died at Coventry Myton in 2015 that was the first year I did Walk for Myton. Everyone says how pleasant Myton is and how well looked after you are there. The year I turned 60 I wanted to mark it with something big! By the time I was returning to Myton after my first 12 mile walk people had already set off on their routes and were telling me I was going the wrong way! I stopped a few times to tell people what I was doing. I grew up in Leamington and enjoy the walk because it takes me through my past I revisit places I went when I was a child.

To reach our target of £38,000 we rely entirely on you raising sponsorship. Have a look at the difference the money you raise will make:

£50 covers the cost of two hours of specialist nursing care

£175 is the upkeep cost of our relatives' accommodation for a week

£460 will fund an inpatient bed for one day

£2,000 would buy a patient specific recliner chair to enable patients to spend time out of bed

This year we have to raise £9.6million of the £12.3 million we need to continue to provide our services free of charge, we can't do it without support from people like you.
