Story
Wild West Weekender
Join Katy Roberts (Saddle to Sea) for the Wild West Weekender – a special two-day charity cycling event exploring sections of the West Kernow Way off-road cycling route through the beautiful landscapes of West Cornwall.
Starting and finishing in Penzance, and kindly hosted by the Penzance Wheelers, this unforgettable weekend will raise vital funds to support Cornwall Mind.
Katy's story
In 2024, Katy cycled 5,632 km around the coast of Britain to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention. Katy wanted to raise money for Cornwall Mind, to support people struggling in Cornwall, but she also wanted to show how important talking, movement and getting out in nature are for your mental health.
“I lost my Dad to suicide when I was 16 and I didn’t know how to cope - swimming in the sea, cycling, being outside and finding a community helped me and still does. I want this event to encompass all of these things, I want people to be outside all weekend, meet new people, challenge themselves, while having the best time!”
Why Cornwall Mind?
Every mile cycled and every pound raised will help Cornwall Mind continue supporting better mental health across Cornwall.
Around one in four people experience a mental health problem each year. And it can affect any of us, at any stage of life.
Cornwall Mind is here so that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
Although we're affiliated with Mind, the national mental health charity, Cornwall Mind is an independently registered and funded local charity. We rely on donations and fundraising to continue providing vital mental health support across Cornwall.
Every penny raised stays in Cornwall, helping local people access the support they need, when they need it most.
Together, we can help make sure no one has to struggle alone.
How your fundraising could help
• £10 - Will pay for us to answer a call from someone in need of support.
• £50 - Will pay for someone to receive one to one support, helping them connect with others and feel less alone.
• £100 - Will pay for someone to benefit from a wellbeing course, helping them to build confidence and improve quality of life.
Your support and sponsorship will make a difference. Thank you!
