Story
For World Mental Health Day this year, were joining forces with our amazing colleagues at Devon Mind and Mind in Somerset to jump for mental health awareness across the South West, and you can join us! On Sunday 10th October 2021, supporters from across the three local Minds will be taking part in a 15,000 foot tandem skydive at Dunkeswell Airfield in Honiton, East Devon to raise money for our respective organisations and helping to increase the awareness of mental health across the South West.
According to latest figures, the prevalence of common mental disorders (such as depression, anxiety and phobias) in the South West of England is one of the highest in the country. As independent local charities, Cornwall Mind, Devon Mind, and Mind in Somerset, work hard to support the people of the South West who need help with their mental health, as well as campaigning to increase the awareness and understanding of mental health and wellbeing across the large area.
The mental health impact of the Covid-19 pandemic will be long lasting and here at Cornwall Mind, we are experiencing an unprecedented demand for support and our services. We receive no core funding for our wellbeing and recovery focused groups and rely hugely on community fundraising to help us continue to be there for all those who need us. Please support our amazing fundraisers who have signed up to raise awareness and funds for better mental health by challenging themselves to a Tandem SkyDive on Sunday 10th October. Every penny raised stays in Cornwall to support local people struggling with their mental health. Thank you for your support so that no one has to face a mental health problem alone
