Warrington Youth Zone are delighted to have joined forces with one of the most acclaimed obstacle course providers in the country; Born Survivor to offer the fundraising challenge of a lifetime.
Set over a gruelling 10kms assault course, and needing to navigate 30 testing obstacles designed by the elite Royal Marines, Born Survivor - Gisburn gets the adrenaline pumping, will test competitors to the max through obstacles such as the fearsome Torpedo slide and the awe-inspiring Finisher Wall; The Blitz!, and is very messy and very muddy!
Taking place on Saturday 16th September, located in the heart of the Ribble Valley, our intrepid crew of Challengers will take on Born Survivor Gisburn to raise funds to support young people who call Warrington Youth Zone their second home.
WYZ is an innovative, state-of-the-art, youth facility located right in the town centre, open 365 days of the year for young people from all backgrounds, aged 7 to 19 (up to 25 with additional needs).
Offering a minimum of 20 different activities on every session, in facilities such as a full-size sports hall, climbing wall, performing arts studio, health and fitness suite, film and multi-media room, sound recording studio, and a football pitch on the roof, WYZ offers young people somewhere safe and inspiring to go, something positive and enriching to do, and crucially someone trusted they can talk to.
Added to this are a wide range of targeted programmes for the town's more vulnerable members helping them to boost their resilience, gain coping skills, and access support when it's most needed.
Having opened in July 2022, WYZ has already gained over 8,800 members, almost 1 in 4 of all eligible young people in the town, and of which 65% live in the most deprived areas, and has already achieved some considerable milestones:
75% of members now feel less isolated
51% feel more confident to exercise in front of other people
81% of young people now feel better prepared for the future
Over 4,000 free hot meals given to young people
Your support will ensure that the doors of the Youth Zone can open, day after day, and enable young people to develop their emotional and physical wellbeing, make new friends, and ultimately unlock their potential.
